The Great Square Challenge!

Today we had the Math challenge of how many squares can you make by overlapping 3 squares of the same size. Through this we learned the difference between a square and a rectangle.

I wonder how many squares you can make by overlapping 4 squares of the same size?

3 Things We Learned Today:
1. “In Math we had a challenge because we had to make the greatest number of squares. We had to use 3 squares that were the same size.” M.M.
2. “In Music we played a game called Naughty Kitty Cat. A person goes in the middle and there’s an owner and you put your hands up. The owner has to try and tag the kitty cat before it gets back in it’s spot.” L.S.
3. “In Gym I learned a new game called Balls and Rings. We had to take Frisbees and lay them around the gym. Some of the class had to put the balls in the Frisbees (rings) and other people had to try and knock them out with pool noodles.” S.C.

Reminders:
1. Heritage Park forms due now.
2. School wide photo order form due now.
3. Please note that the last day of school is Wednesday, June 26th. This is a half day.

Insect Island!

Today we found out that we have been 'invited' by an entomologist to help him create an Insect Island. We need to research an insect to find out if it could be one of the creatures on the Island.

3 Things We Learned Today:
1. "In Math we made shapes with the geoboard. We are trying to answer the question of Is there another shape other than a semi-circle that has 2 sides?" D.G.
2. "In Science we learned about insects to put Mr. Klad's Insect Island. For example, a fly or a ladybug." O.S.
I am encouraged to do some research about my insect at home to bring to school.
3. "With Mr. C. we watched some brain teasers. One example was, a rooster laid an egg on a pointy roof. Which way would it fall off?" J.V.

Reminders:
1. Heritage Park forms went home today. Please complete and return.
2. Fun snack tomorrow.

A Positively Perfect Day At Pearce Estates Park

3 Things We Learned Today at Pearce Estates Park:
1. "At Pearce Estates I learned that there were water striders at the Park." N.G.
2. "At Pearce Estates Park I learned what a worm's eye view is. We painted trees as a worm would see." S.M
3. "With Ms. Brandley we did a hunt for bugs and if you saw a bug in the tree, sky or ground and marked it off in one of the boxes. We then had to put down what we got the most off." D.G.

Unfortunately on our way home, our bus driver had to pull the bus over because of student misbehavior. We know that we have two little 'p' problems that led to our big 'P' problem today on the bus. As of right now Room 2 and Room 3 need to earn their trip to Heritage Park on June 19th back.

Starting today, Pokemon cards are NO LONGER 🚫 allowed at school. They are causing many problems, including the misbehaviour on the bus. If students are found to have Pokemon cards in their backpack or pockets, they will be given to Mr. Emery and a parent will be called to come and get them back.

There is also a 'game' being played in Room 2 which is hurting feelings of some of our classmates. We had a talk today that this is not a good game to play and it is now stopped.

Reminders:
1. Science Home Journals due Friday!
2.Fun snack on Friday.
