Important Google Meet Information

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Tomorrow, we will be having our first Google Meet at 10:00am. You can get into the chat by clicking the link that I will post on our classroom “Stream” page at 9:45am. You can access Google Meet through your home computer, tablet or cell phone (using the Google Meet app)

Talking about Digital Etiquette with your Child

To help us have a successful Google Meet, please review the following 6 etiquette expectations with your child. After you have reviewed the etiquette expectations with your child, please reply back to this email to let me know that your child is ready to use Google Meet as a tool for learning.

Etiquette Details
o   Turn off mic when you are not speaking
o   Only one person can talk at a time – a student can tell me they have something to say by using the chat as a way to signal.
o   Chat sidebar – For questions or signals to speak (not a place to be funny or silly).
o   Closed Captioning - Students can click on CC and it will transcribe the conversation.  Be mindful that sometimes it doesn’t translate properly and inappropriate words may appear.
o   This is a place to learn – not to socialize unless that is the intention of the meeting.

Schedule for Google Meet

The plan for our short video chat is:
  1. Attendance
  2. Review Etiquette
  3. Opening question (testing mics and videos)
  4. Google Classroom Tour
  5. Engage in a game or listen to an online story
I ask that parents are close by during our first meet to support their child with technology and etiquette expectations.
